"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco residents voted Tuesday to recall progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin following a heated campaign that captivated the country and bitterly divided Democrats over crime, policing and public safety reform in the famously liberal city."

There's been a lot of press about a sort of anti-progressive revolt amongst San Francisco's liberal Democrat electorate. The Progressive response to the liberals' expressions of concern seems to comprise mostly accusations of homophobia, racism, and fascism. It's very ugly. The sense I get is that the non-Progressives are about done with the Progressive agenda. The being almost no GOP presence in the politics of the Bay Area, the liberals are the true power brokers and they are angry. Interesting to watch. Something similar may be happening in Seattle but they're not quite so far along.

Which they've done so relentlessly for so long that those accusations have lost any power they might once have had.

But such accusations end discussion and that's not a good thing.

I suppose, although that works both ways in that another way to look at it is that those who habitually make such spurious accusations do everyone else the favor of letting us know not to pay attention to them.

Accusations of homophobia, racism, xenophobia, and fascism are called the Kafka Trap or SJW Trap.

I have some friends living in San Franciso. They were perfectly happy to vote Democrat or not to care about politics for the rest of their lives. However, now I'm seeing them post pics of gas prices in San Franciso on my FB wall. There is only so much crime and high taxes people can take.

Not exactly. The "Kafka trap" part is the claim that denial of the accusation is itself evidence that the accusation is true.

Anyway, if the press reports about life in the City are to be believed there's a basis for what the press describes as growing anger with the Progressive Left. This is interesting because there's truth in the idea that social movements start in California.
