Salus University and Drexel University agreed this year to merge, subject to regulatory and judicial approvals and with an integration process expected to take at least one year.

Salus was previously the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and was founded in 1919. Starting in 2000 PCO added programs in other health sciences, and they became Salus University in 2008.

Salus offers research-based MSc and PhD programs in Biomedicine with on-campus and online options. In the online option, students "take all courses online and link research projects with established mentors in successful research laboratories in the student’s community."
