For those who are interested, there is an good article in this months issue of Communications of the ACM (Dec.2001/Vol.44,No.12) by Roger C. Schank titled "Revolutionizing the Traditional Classroom Course". Members of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) can view the full article online at http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=501317.501330 I found this article well thought out and obviously written by someone who has been in the trenches of bringing traditional education into a distance environment. Perhaps, if Mr. Schank is a regular member of this forum, he would post some of his thoughts on this matter. If Mr. Schank is not around, and there is interest, I might be able to post some excerpts of the article without infringing too far on the copyright. See 'ya Joe
Good article. NY times carried a similar story earlier this year. NY times story was also about a plan by Columbia University and Cognitive Arts to develop virtual classrooms.
