Republicans apparently live in a partial fantasy world painted by Fox News and company. Here's my initial list of false stories. Please feel free to let me know if I've missed any.

    - Biden stole the 2020 election. This is an especially sinister lie that threatens our democracy. Unfortunately polls indicate that 70% of Republicans believe this lie!

    - Critical Race Theory is a bogeyman. Republicans believe race is being used to destroy the American way of life starting with our kids in school. They call this bogeyman CRT. Which really doesn't have anything to do with the original CRT.

    - The January 6 insurrection was legitimate political discourse.

    - The January 6 insurrectionists were antifa or a FBI false flag operation.

    - Black Lives Matter (also) is a movement trying to say that Black Lives Matter (but white lives don't matter).

    - Same sex marriage will destroy the American family.

    - Transgender folks make it dangerous to use the public restroom.

    - Trump's false or misleading claims total 30573 over 4 years. The vast majority of these claims are repeated many times in this list. So, I'll guess a few thousand false or misleading unique claims are in the list.

    - Global Climate Change is not man made.

    - The Covid19 vaccine is dangerous.

I know this is just scratching the surface. What am I forgetting?

One article has the following summaries:

"Although the American people see the events of January 6 as significant, they do not consider them to be as transformative as other significant events in recent decades.

According to a Politico/Morning Consult poll, just 40% of Americans report that the January 6 attacks had a major impact on their outlook, compared to 66% for the terrorist attacks on 9/11, 62% for the pandemic, and 52% for the recent spate of mass shootings.

The committee convened to investigate the January 6 attacks enjoys strong but not overwhelming support.
In the surveys on which this article is based, approval of the committee’s work enjoys an edge of 11 to 16 points over disapproval. The ABC/Ipsos poll found that 60% of Americans view the committee’s investigation as “fair and impartial”; 38% disagree."

The issue is very is very important, but it appears the current events, economy, crime, energy, climate etc are whats on the minds of people.
As elections dates are near we will see increase in accusations from both sides on range of the issues.

You forgot the biggest one, which is that the teachings of Jesus Christ support their worldview.

Let me guess, "you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides"?

Larger gathering of family in last years during Covid are rare but even then once political issues rise there is no consensus.
We just celebrated Independence Day and thanked God for America.
But I think each family member when saluting with cup in their hand had some variation of America in their minds.
