    I don't know what the November midterms will bring. I don't think that anyone does. The 2016 election (and the UK Brexit vote before it) should have taught people a little humility in that regard.

    They certainly suggested that the polls aren't really reliable. And given Trump's victory in 2016 in the face of almost universal hostility in the MSM, and given the over-the-top nature of that opposition (Nazi! Fascist! Mussolini!), it's pretty clear that the media is no longer considered credible by much of the American public.

    My own guess is that the non-stop drumbeat of 'Hate! Hate! Hate!' for the last two years is going to rebound on the Dems and burn them.

    But that's just a guess.

    You deserve credit for admitting that it's just a guess. Guesses are rarely acknowledged as such when it comes to politics.

    I have a guess too, but it's the opposite of yours. I guess that the big "F U" to Democrats that was the 2016 election will result in a "Well F U, too!!!" to the Republicans in upcoming elections, especially as more 17 year olds come of age. The youth are predominantly left leaning in this country, and might be very mobilized by how much they hate Donald Trump, and will vote blue across the board.

    </guess>

    • Prior to the last presidential election, you were all told that Donald J. Trump would be the next president. Most everyone scoffed, laughed and ridiculed the thought -- Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike -- and everyone said in unison that it was impossible for anyone to know in advance. And yet it was true and it came to pass, exactly as you were warned. God put Trump in office to accomplish His own will and plans for the United States and for the world. God has his own timeline and plans, which diverge from those of the world. Many people don't like Trump, but he is the instrument that God has chosen to use.
    • Prior to the upcoming mid-term elections, you are being told that there will be a Red Tsunami in the United States. Most are not scoffing, laughing or ridiculing the thought -- but are questioning how anyone could possibly know. It will play out again, just as before. o_O

    We were also told that he wouldn't be. It depends on who you asked. His election was entirely unprecedented and a very true sign of the times. It's a phenomenon that may be repeated somewhere down the line, but Garey Busey is older than Donald Trump and I doubt he's planning on running in 2020.

    Maybe, but not because Trump is a godly person, rather, because the scriptures prophesy that things will get worse before they get better. Trump is not the anti-Christ, but he's no one's savior, either.

    I've been told a thousand times by subway preachers that the end is coming soon. Well, the end has to come one of these days, right? Even if it takes a million or a billion years. Whichever subway preacher happens to be alive when that end actually comes gets to spend half a second gloating about how he was right before we're all dead and there's no one left to say "I told you so."

    People living in WWII Nazi concentration camps also thought the end was near -- and it was (for them). This writer believes that the Second Coming is at least three centuries away. Can you imagine what technology will be like then?

    Could be. The Democrats certainly want that scenario to come true. In fact, they've been waiting for it to unfold ever since the 1960's.

    I'm inclined to think that just as left leaning high-school kids reach voting age, existing voters get married, find jobs, have children or just get older themselves, and they typically find themselves becoming more conservative. Today's Trump voters are the same people who once told us not to trust anyone over 30.

    And Western societies are aging, with more and more older people relative to the kids.

    So it could work either way.

    I completely overlooked this point. Very true. Western societies are at or below replacement fertility rate. If legal immigration continues to be undercut by illegal immigration, there will be proportionately less young voters to contend with older voters.

    It does raise the question of whether or not age-graded conservatism is actually a cohort phenomenon or a cross-sectional phenomenon.
