I agree. The degree has no use other than to be used and under what circumstance can it be honorably used?

From Mark: In the only cases I've heard about where people were jailed for claiming degrees, either the people didn't have the degrees (Dennis Roark), or the schools were (not just bad, but) fictitious (John Davy).

It is now over two years since John Davy, who was doing an very good job as CEO of NZ Maori TV, was caught out with his ficticious degree, plus a fraudulent CV, jailed and then deported. Since this highly publicised event Maori TV has still not seen the light of day!
Some have been know to say "Bring back John Davy!"

I will wait and see! If I can get in in one of the British uUniv. that have been around longer than Canada and US put together, I do not care for the Fairfax. I have legit schooling from Canada and the knowledge + skills to back it up. I do not want to make some "person" rich because they will come with the excuse that I need to take an extra credits for their degree (Like many Canadian universities). My brother just finished his teachers degree and I can tell you he is very bright person, but he can't match my style and knowledge with or without the degree. here is an example: I was offered a job to teach a course that I am not "qualified" to do (per our union rules), but on the phone interview with the principal of the school I got the job. I have spent countless hours reading materials on the subject, including my brother's university books. I think that we all have abilities, I just want to have the damn paper so people in my circle do not think less of me, that's all. I am quite capable to hold my own, and I am 31 yrs old. With 12 years of working and 8 years of straight part time schooling.

Thank you (All) for the advice, I guess the decission will be mine to make. That will depend on the answer from the few institutions I have contacted. I will keep you posted with the news.

P.S. And I have great respect for Dr. John Bear, I have not bought his book but have read it about 50% at the Chapter's Book store. Sorry I am cheap, I read fast.

    Regards

This is FNHayes' oft-expressed view. The only person he's ever cited in support of it is Derek Fox, the man who hired Davy and lied to the press saying Davy's degree "checks out fine". Davy couldn't even write literately, so he "wrote" corporate documents by plagiarizing them from the Web.

It is scheduled to start broadcasting next month.
