Bad pay, zero job security, no benefits, endless commutes. Is this any way to treat PhDs responsible for teaching a generation of college students?

Excellent article. And I was struck by the big UMUC ad in the center of the page -- a very high fraction of UMUC faculty are adjuncts!

 

About 2~3 months back there was discussion on the same issue on NPR(national public radio).

Yup! Legislation is the answer. More taxpayer money is the answer. Strap them down and have the bloodletting begin. The evil spirits are in the body of the taxpayer and not the body of the educator.
