Political Cartoon thread

I have a very high opinion of the Anti-Defamation League. I haven't seen them getting into political fights outside their focus. They seem to be sincerely concerned about focusing on primarily Anti-Semitic hatred and secondarily Anti-Defamation in general. Pass on Laffer, for very evident reasons.

 

Trying to make rational sense out of political cartoons is a fools errand. Oops ... sorry, ... that wasn't a political cartoon. My bad, ... hmmm ... I don't know what made me think it might be a political cartoon?

 

I noticed gas was a buck per gallon cheaper.

Oh, and let's not forget the Flying Ginsu. Or the impressive Covid-19 vaccine roll0ut. Others?

 

Politically at this moment, this is a very good report for President Biden.

Credit due for achievements, jobs #s are good, based on the latest report, but still people cant afford the high cost of living and people are increasingly using credit.
I think the credit debt of people increased.

On the Inflation reduction act. Is there going to be increased tax bill on manufacturers?

They make products.
And if they’re making products and their costs are up — as they currently are already, but if they’re raised even more by the government increasing their tax bill — what happens then?

Well, prices go up, too, even more than they already have.
Jobs numbers are good this month, I hope the trend remains next month and going forward.
But if the jobs numbers are so good, why have we had two quarters of negative GDP?
What about the debt that’s occurring? What about us the costs, the expenses that people are dealing with?
This is where people ask, “Well, hold on a second. Which one of these things is actually the more accurate sense of where we’re going?
National debt increased by $8 trillion. We’re looking at long-term structural issues here and risks, structural risks in the economy. And the addition of household debt is also deeply concerning.
People can’t actually pay for things.

Only two weeks ago people were debating if we are going in to recession.
These Jobs numbers make pretty clear we are not in a recession. We don’t add half a million jobs when in a recessionary environment.
The pandemic hurt many - looking at the data that came out on household debt surging to a new all-time record high, $16.15 trillion.
American families have taken on $2 trillion of debt just since the pandemic.

 

This is a good question that is open to debate. As time goes on it likely will be more clear.

One interesting theory I saw, that had a lot of back up data presented along with the article, was that it likely had to do with the recent past shipping shortages. Many businesses were having trouble getting goods delivered that were needed for manufacture or for sale. There was a back log and in response more orders from different sources were made. So, as the orders have now all been fulfilled many companies are now overstocked. So they have reduced their orders in the short term while consuming their overstocked shelves and warehouse supplies.
