I am intrigued - tools for more devious things? ..such as..perhaps.. catching other types of crime? I am perplexed about people complaining about their privacy being invaded with cameras, yet also complain about the police not doing enough to catch criminals...

If you did nothing wrong, why do you care whether there is a camera there or not?

Shucks, maybe I should stop wearing my veil when I drive then?

Actually, my understanding in California is that if you show up in court and they can't match you to the picture then they will drop the charge.

Well, OK, I read the text of the law. Columnist Herb Caen used to award the "Nikita" to writing that appeared to have been translated from the Ukrainian. The following paragraph qualifies, I think:
    -----------------------------------------
A driver facing a steady red arrow signal shall not enter the intersection to make the movement indicated by the arrow and, unless entering the intersection to make a movement permitted by another signal, shall stop at a clearly marked limit line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication permitting movement is shown.
    -------------------------------------------
Then I used the Google translation program to translate this paragraph into Ukrainian, and then from Ukrainian back into English. If anything, I think it has slightly improved:
    -------------------------------------------
If the facing is solid red arrow signal shall not enter the intersection to move the arrow, and unless entering the intersection to the traffic permitted by another signal, shall stop clearly marked limit line, but if you from the entrance to the pedestrian crossing near the junction of the page or, if none, before entering the intersection and remain stopped for an indication permitting the movement is visible.
    --------------------------------------------

How did they get his email address?

I'm amazed that the police are capable of catching up with some random dude who did a slightly improper stop, but cannot catch up with the killer of a close relative of mine.

Legal interpreters make up to twice as much as I do... I should forward this to people when I try to explain to them why I'm not interested in it.

I recall you live on Colorado Springs. Some years ago I was visiting there and driving a Toyota Supra, turned into a shopping center, and got stuck on the bump. A police car was kind enough to push me back onto the road.
