True. But if I was to choose between a DBA or PhD at the same level of accreditation, I'd pick the PhD.
I have a similar position but with administration duties at a large AACSB accredited school. I think a DBA from Aston might have a good shot at my school for a similar position that I have but not for a tenure track mainly because the large majority of professors come from traditional 5 year programs and would see the Aston DBA as an executive doctorate meant for administration. Any of the other doctorates would not work unless the person has a great MBA and good working experience and the PhD is just icing on the cake. I worked at a CC college for one year, the story is different there and the emphasis is on working experience and any PhD would be considered an asset. The academic market is tough, Stanislav has a traditional PhD is CS and MS in Accounting and landed an instructor position. CS is in great demand and not at the same level as general management, he also has a combo with a high demand area as Accounting. This to say that the academic market is difficult.
Everything else being equal, I suppose I would too. But when comparing academic programs, everything else is never equal.
