Only 2 Ivy League schools land grads a six-figure salary 10 years out—and almost half of MBAs are a waste of money, data suggests

"Sorry, Gen Z grads: Ritzy college degrees just aren’t the golden ticket to big paychecks that they perhaps used to be. New data shows that even those studying at Ivy League schools aren’t guaranteed a six-figure salary.

The Department of Education’s College Scorecard tracked the median earnings, average annual cost, and median debt for former Ivy League students who received federal financial aid.

According to the research, only two of the eight Ivy League schools landed students with jobs paying more than $100,000 a whole decade after studying there: the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University."

And we know 100K is not what it used to be. It's more like 50K in the 90s.
The cost of rent, gas, produce, cars all doubled and some tripled since then.

I don't know if the article shows accurate data. I assume these are the undergraduates earning after 10 years of leaving the Ivy League colleges. However, does the study include those who returned to earn advanced degrees?

"1. The University of Pennsylvania: $112,761
    2. Princeton University: $110,433
    3. Cornell University: $98,321
    4. Columbia University: $97,540
    5. Yale University: $95,961
    6. Dartmouth College: $95,540
    7. Harvard University: $95,114
    8. Brown University: $87,811"

I graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2006. 10 years later, in 2016, I made $180,000.00, but I earned two master's degrees during that 10-year period. That shows I made more than the average Ivy League graduate, but it does not seem to be correct.

MBAs in general are over-saturated. I've hired admins with MBAs. I think the value you get is through networking, at least if you're at a top school. Were I to do an MBA, I'd find the absolute cheapest RA option.

That would most likely be Hellenic American University's $3000 MBA program that is RA accredited

I am still waiting for an ROI for my MBA. Since it is from one of the top schools, I hope it will help me land some executive jobs in the future. By the time I am 50, I will still be in middle management, considering my MBA failure. :D

Just like any degree, if the focus is not specific and isn’t needed in the workplace, it can be a waste.

My MBA has severed me well, IMO……….Colorado Technical University - MBA in Project Management

    My ROI was 3 years.
