Here is an interesting article from USAtoday:
    http://www.usatoday.com/tech/wireless/2006-01-14-online-classroom_x.htm

    Here are some relevant points:
    according to the article:

-younger, oncampus students acquire more and more taste for online classes

-distinction between online and "face to face" classes disappears quickly

-two thirds of the surveyed schools agree that online classes often require more stamina than their "face to face" equivalents

Good article and good news!! I remember when I first started taking distance classes at the University of Iowa back in 1997. I would tell people and they would give me this weird look. The funny thing is I would make sure and mention the school name, but people still seemed to think it was odd, not legitimate, etc.

Now, people are finally starting to accept distance learning. My wifes boss (VP of finance) has a B.S. and MBA via distance programs. She is currently working of a PHD from NCU. This person was not questioned in the least as to the distance nature of her degrees.

    Just my two centavos!!!

    Take care,

    Abner :)

There is definitely some truth to this statement. When I started my master’s degree in 1999 from the Florida Institute of Technology, I started by taking two online courses. The online courses combined nearly killed me. When I sat down with my advisor later in the semester I told him I wanted to take the rest of the courses onsite. The onsite versions of the classes turned out to be much easier to digest.
