Dr. Hemi (Menahem) Rotenberg from the Technion has been awarded the prestigious ERC Starting Grant to advance research in nerve tissue regeneration. The grant will enable him to develop an innovative electro-mechanical interface that combines optoelectronic and magnetic components for precise stimulation of cells and tissues. This technology is expected to accelerate the regeneration of peripheral nervous system cells and may even promote regeneration in the spinal cord and brain, where cells do not naturally regenerate
Dr. Rotenberg's work could lead to breakthroughs in treating spinal cord injuries and neurological damage. Despite facing challenges, such as extended reserve military duty during the Iron Swords War, Dr. Rotenberg successfully navigated the rigorous grant process. His commitment is a testament to his dedication as a researcher, soldier, and father of four.
