    Thanks Abner.

Don't mean to sound pessimistic, but after this what?
I just feel that it'd be nice to have the BS instead of just an AS, and that if only I were younger I could really pursue a fulfilling career.

In a weeks time or so I plan on going out to the work world again, coinciding with my termination or 99.9% completion of my AS.

My only market valuable experience is as a mainframe computer programmer (beautiful Cobol!), a career I've tried to get out of twice already and that I hate.

Otherwise I'll have to think of a low paying Call Center job like I had recently.

Age (47) is, I'm finding, an issue, really here. Lots of ads specify "we're thinking of someone young between 25-30" or "because of internal company policies, should not be older than 32", etc.
(This kind of stuff is probably prohibited in USA and UK, but not here yet)

Oh well, Ces't la vie as they say. We'll just have to deal with it.

Either way, you are still better off with a degree.

I would say, keep a cool head and dye your hair if necessary. Get into the interview and show them what you have, sell yourself!

Age discriminatin does exist here in the U.S. However, it exists in veiled secrecacy. Most of us union folk, fight to protect against this kind of bullsh#t. We do so by ensuring rights for all!

    Anyway, enough of my soupbox,

    take care,

    Abner :)

The problem is that I'm bald! :D

No, really, I guess it may take some time before the fact of having this degree sinks in and somehow provides some financial rewards.

In anycase the experience has been nice and, if I had the means and time , I'd certainly like to remain a student the rest of my life.

    Thanks, bye for now.

The true reward will come in knowing you achieved it. If you never achieved it, it would have nagged at you for the rest of your life. Trust me.
