A tad slow and with minimal action but a durned good movie.

    Rotten Tomatoes.

Thanks, maybe I will see if they have this movie at the little video rental shop I go to.

    Have a good weekend!

I just watched this movie this weekend (thanks to your posting) and I'm pleased to say that I enjoyed it on several levels. I would recommend the film over virtually everything that comes out of Hollywood these days. While I'm at it, I would also recommend House of Flying Daggers , a poignant and visually beautiful film. If nothing else, watch it for Zivi Zhang (Hero with Jet Li). The scenes in the bamboo forest are superb.

Loved this movie until I realized they were tripping horses in the action scenes. Dangerous and illegal in this country - horses usually break their legs or necks. I check all the Hong Kong movies on the Humane Society rating system now before renting.

I liked the unusually realistic portrayal of the fighting (gone into by the director in his commentary) and the treatment of the characters as individuals.

I haven't seen that one but I'll give it a go.

In Chinese history there is the making of many epic films and I'd like to see more of that. Mongols, of course. Lots of Mongols. :)
