Re-reading this thread after a year or two is instructive. I think the difference is that between providers of education and consumers we are sharply divided. Degreeinfor is very heavily weighted to the latter, who seek opportunities to get their learning programmes underway and who might see the narkiness of some few providers insisting on standards and bewailing the apparent slide in them by many providers seeking the cash of the future consumers, as barriers to them joining a hoped for gravy train, where with some fuddled badge of achievement they merit praise (but are not really praiseworthy).

There is no hope that we can square the circle here. From almost daily reports (accurately picked up by Oxpecker) of the slide (and worse, the collusion of some providers still managing to call themselves, without a hint of shame, 'academics' employed by 'academic' institutions), I am not optimistic of the next 20 years.

My only comfort is that there are many who regret what is happening too, and we can at least sign off, when it is time, with the just claim that we fought the good fight to the best of our abilities and, while we lost it, we never surrendered to the incoming tides of pusillanimity in our profession.

    Correction:

The MBA in HS at Touro requires 40 semester credits and the PhD in HS 44 (exclu. dissertation)

As for Business Admin. it is 44 credits for the MBA and 44 credits for the PhD (exclu. dissertation).

I quote TUI's site for the MBA in BA:

"Students who have an undergraduate degree in a business related field will be able to complete the degree with 44 semester credit hours. This is contingent upon a statistics course previously been taken. If a statistics course has not been completed at the baccalaureate level, an additional statistics preparatory course will be required.
Students with an undergraduate degree in a non-business related field will take two additional courses for a total of 52 semester credit hours. In addition, these candidates may be required to take an additional undergraduate statistics course, if not previously completed. Such additional requirements will be determined by the Dean after individual review of the candidate's academic record."

I quote TUI's site for PhD in BA:

"or students with a Master's degree in a business related field, this program consists of 44 semester credit hours (the coursework may be completed in six sessions with a full-time load-2 courses each session) plus a research dissertation. Following the completion of the course work, students will register for the DBA 700 series (4 credits) every session until the dissertation is completed. The time needed to complete the dissertation depends upon the individual student."
