I suggested to SNHU that their masters in psychology should have counseling courses. I like how the advisors check up on me just to see how i'm doing and i was told by the time i graduate and enter into grad school they will have more options

When you sat accredited, I gather that you want a regionally accredited (the most recognized form of accreditation. That is the on;y type of college that I would attend. Since your major is career focused, I would not fool aren't with unaccredited colleges.

Here are a few. - Messiah College in PA. Mercy College in NY. Seron Hall in NJ.

Truthfully, my suggestion is to focus on completing the BA, then look at MA/MS options that might be available at the time. You are at least a couple of years off unless you look at supplementing your courses with testing. Take a look at any and all CLEP/Dantes exams you might be able to pass with some study time.

Thank you and yes i wanted accredited because i read that's important. I also wanted to see were there any psychology programs that had counseling courses. i suggested that to SNHU to add that to their psychology program maybe by the time i graduate they will have it. they told me they're always looking to improve their courses which seems to be true from what i read years ago they didn't have all these programs and are still adding new degrees and courses. Is SNHU really affordable in their psychology program? i've read they are accredited, affordable and good school. i wouldn't mind staying with them after graduation and enroll into masters psychology. they have what i want which is masters psychology concentration in child and adolescent development

The for-profit university, Capella (owned by Capella Education Co. (NADAQ: CPLA), formerly The Graduate School of America (TGSA)), does in my opinion, offer a credible higher education (undergraduate and postgraduate) means of advanced learning for adults. Capella, in addition to its RA through HLC-NCA, has likewise attained several programmatic accreditations too (e.g., ABET, NCATE, CACREP, ACBSP, and CCNE). Some of its baccalaureate and graduate programs are also accredited /recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) Accreditation - Capella University.

P.S. A former colleague earned her PhD in HRM from Capella; a very competent individual in her profession.
P.P.S. I favored the former name (The Graduate School of America) though…

Thanks for the link and has anyone heard of University of Texas of the Permian Basin? i spoke to an enrollment specialist she was telling me their B.A psychology program is designed for 12 months and i can transfer credits i would graduate in 2016 but i was saying i would graduate in 2017 where i'm at now. i'm trying to find a way to see if there is a way for me to graduate in 2016 where i am at now because i take 2 classes

I have already answered this question for you. The University of Texas Permian Basin degree allows you to finish the 36-hour major in 12 months through an accelerated 8-week format taking 2 courses at a time. It requires the transfer of 90 semester hours of work into the program. If you don't have the requisite 90 hours, you aren't ready to enter the program. Only you will know how long it will take you to get to the required 90. You'll also have to make sure that you have the "correct" 90 hours, meaning all of their required core and electives. They want you to take all 36 hours of the major with them.

As to the University of Texas System - UTPB B.A psychology (via the College of Arts & Sciences) program, I can’t offer any insightful details; in contrast, I did the University of Texas Online Program for the Superintendence (UTOPS) graduate coursework (e.g., a requisite four, 4-hour credit courses (16-hours) which comprised a field-based experience/practicum component)) for the Texas school district superintendent certification through UTPB UTOC · UTOPS Program Information. My personal experience was that the UTPB-College of Education staff and faculty were engaged, supportive and accommodating throughout the program. It’s likely you can anticipate the same of the College of Arts & Sciences…

i know you did but I'm asking others the enrollment specialist told me a student has to have 24 credits and the program is only designed for 12 months and the courses are 7 and a half weeks and get a week break

If you read the website, it clearly states that the following:

    1. the degree requires 120 hours.
    2. The accelerated 12-month program consists of only 36 hours, broken down into 12 courses, each 7.5 weeks long. Taken 2 at a time, this is where you get the 12 months.

You may be able to matriculate with fewer credits (the correct number is actually 84, not the 90 I mentioned previously), but if you do, you will not earn the degree in 12 months. What the school is saying is that you can complete the major in 12 months, and completing the major, IF you have all of the other requisite course work completed, will result in the degree being awarded.

I talked with SNHU about their masters they will waive the $40 for alumni. the thing is their M.S psychology program is research base and doesn't have courses in mental health like learning about mental disorders. i'm trying to find the right masters program that offers it i will be advocating for children with disorders and facing abuse or survived abuse while dealing with disorders like myself. i will also be serving on different boards. Is there a masters psychology program that focuses on mental disorders? trying to make sure i find the right psychology program for what i want to do this is their program http://www.snhu.edu/online-degrees/graduate-degrees/psychology-MS-online/child-and-development-psychology/curriculum.asp would SNHU program be enough?

I don't need an internship already have experience. i will be using my masters for what i mentioned above so far i see that Walden University offers their masters in psychology in 15 months and has a course in psychopathology and has a child and adolescent specialization
