How appalling. Thanks for the link anyway, Vladica. Y'know, if MDS has 3000 students that may be proof that Darwin really was wrong.:p

And isn't Trinity C&S the largest seminary in the United States, in terms of enrollment?

Good thing that these two schools aren't related (or so we are assured). If they were connected, this would be quite a little theological empire in the making.

Or else it might be proof that human beings really are descended from monkies.

Why, thanks, Bill Gossett! You have replaced my poor detection of suspicious overlaps with clear proof. For a Carpathian, I'm really happy. (They are such a fine pair of schools, attracting such distinguished defenders hereabouts...)

Frey, pres of MDS, is/was VP of TTS. So, how can it not be disgusting too for anyone a VP of TTS to be also the pres of MDS:rolleyes:

Oh, I know, the "unparalled excellence" of TTS covers that. Or maybe, as used as a counter to TTS hyperbolic trickery, Frey just "doesn't intend" to be pres of MDS or his "motive" may be pure:D

Claims by MDS that its new program is the first of its kind is not really true either. Biola University (RA) offers a MA in Science and Religeon. (www.biola.edu/scienceandreligion)

This program looks EXTREMELY interesting to me! I don't believe it is offered via DL!!

If Biola offers an MA in Science and Religeon (sic), it is indeed the first of its kind. :D

The Institute of Creation Research has offered apologetics degrees with science titles for many years. Not surprisingly, it's accredited by TRACS.

Interestingly, the state of California tried to pull ICR's state approval some years ago because their "science" degrees had too little science content and too much Biblical doctrine. They were Bible-apologetics degrees, not science degrees. The ICR challenged that in court and got a ruling that the state could not dictate program content. In other words, private colleges can determine their own curriculum and call their degrees anything they want.

While that ruling admirably defended free-speech, it effectively pulled the state's teeth in managing the quality of program content among its state-approved schools.

That's another strong argument in favor of the American mixed public/private accreditation system. The government has to allow pretty much anything to be taught, no matter how flakey it seems or how lame the curriculum appears. That's guaranteed by rights to free-speech. But the private accreditors are free to demand appropriate program content as they see fit. In this case, the regional accreditors would probably gag at ICR but TRACS likes it. I believe that TRACS was intentionally created (it certainly didn't evolve!) to address these kind of situations.

Biola's MA entry requirements are a BA in a science field. I have to agree with this.
