Early voting began in New Mexico yesterday. The line at the county building went on and on so I gave up and went home. Long line today but not quite as long so I waited and voted. In all the years I've lived here, in all the years I was doing politics, even in 2020, the lines weren't anything like what I'm seeing now.
The polls might end up being off again because those who aren't "likely voters" might be turning out.
Trump is in a better polling spot now than he was against Clinton or Biden. Harris still leads in polls. The question republicans are asking is how many voters are hiding their "red hats", what some call the hidden Trump vote. It is also possible that polling is factoring their undercounting for Trump in the last few elections and applying correction to reflect more accurately the 2024 presidential elections. The early voting is a sign that people care and want to express their right to vote ASAP. In less than a month we will know if history is made, and we have for a first time in US history a woman US president.
