Goodness you guys are a bunch of conspirarcy theorists

I was just looking up alternatives to attending Grad school. I came across Lexington and did some research found out it had some risks and then came upon this site and posted some questions.

Thats it. Take from it all that you desire. The only reason I commented that I am a real minister. Everytime I looked into any past thread you guys were always trying to fraud someone.

Well attacks end here for me, thanks for the general information that I recieved.

Talk about "how dare you"-ism! Inflammatory language, unusual credential claims, high dudgeon at simple questions of fact...with "creditionals" like that, who dares gainsay?

Counseling is a regulated field in most states and requires licensure. Some states exempt ministers from licensure as long as the counseling they provide is in their role as a minister. There are also a number of national boards available for counselor certification (e.g. Certified ClinicalMental Health Counselor-CCMHC, Nationally Certified Counselor-NCC and Certified Certified Rehabilitaion Counselor-CRC). All certifications and licensures require a master's degree from a regionally accredited school. Lexington would neither provide you worthwhile training or credible trainling for credentialling. There are at least 16 schools that offer fully accredited master's degrees in counseling that are primarliy on-line or distance. Some examples are the University of North Texas, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Utah state University, and San Diego State University. These programs specialize in rehabilitation counseling, but ususally also qualify for the mmore generla requirements of state licensure. If you are really wanting to update your skills, selecting one of these schools would offer you substantially more skill development.

Regarding your own credentials, it is reasonable to tell people where you went to school so that they can offer potential matches for other school programs. It would be nice to know where you earned your degrees because we could then know the kind of acceedtiation the schools ahad and we could offer better information about how to match your opportunities.

Regarding the responses on the board, as usual we appear to be in the attack mode when a newbie to the discussion board asks a question about a degree milland we somehow assume they should have known better. They come to this board to find out information, not to be run off for asking the wrong question or for responding in a way other than how people thought they should. This particular question was posted by a new member with fewer than 5 questions. It appears we have really welcomed him and assured that he will use our information as a resource in the future (not)!
