Yes, the whole things has gotten very messy. I predict it will energize Democrat women to vote even more on Election Day!

Recent polls put Beto O'Rourke within the margin of error of Ted Cruz. If Democratic voters are sufficiently motivated and come out in large enough numbers, they could win in Texas. Texas, of all places! And before you laugh, remember Alabama.

Texas is really not as red as Alabama. It just suffers from low voter turnout. The cities (not looking at entire counties) of Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, El Paso, Austin, and San Antonio are all blue-leaning. Their respective counties, except for Fort Worth's, are also blue-leaning. The entire Rio Grande Valley (South Texas) is very blue. But, since voter turnout is so low in the urban areas and among Hispanics, the rural and suburban counties dominate Texas politics. Black voter turnout rates are higher, but we only make up about 12% of the population.

Alabama, on the other hand, is about 26% black. However, the only reason why they temporarily have a Democratic senator is because so many white people didn't vote, and black voter turnout was exceptionally high.

I hope that minorities are motivated by Cruz displacing blame in the murder of Botham Jean. He said that he "found himself murdered" and that "possibly two lives were ruined." He also said that she shouldn't be fired yet. Even if the off-duty officer shot him by accident, she has proven herself to be an idiot for entering the wrong apartment and shooting someone she thought was an intruder. She should never be allowed to be a police officer again.
