I’ll be interested to see if this sticks.. I went in thinking I was going to look for correlations and use linear disciminant analysis (LDA) to group firms and technology usage looking for innovative patterns. I have come out of the proposal process doing qualitative grounded theory research.. about 180 degrees from what I thought, the process challenges and directs you a bit..

    Plugging along...

The exact same thing happened to me: I went in there with my own innovative and thought-provoking ideas, but I came out with something entirely different. Randell's idea might stick though. I dunno. We'll have to wait and see. Whether it stays the same or changes, keep plugging along. IMO Randell will do fine.

    Here are my thoughts:
-I work managing people in the field and see them maybe once a quarter.
-I don’t think it is that important to work in the same building to manage them properly.
-Some employees think talking to a manager once a month is the right amount of communication.
-Some employees think talking to a manager once a week is the right amount of communication.
-Employee satisfaction does not depend on the proximity of management if they communication with the employee “the right amount”.
-The “right amount” is not the same for everyone. To increase employee satisfaction, the manager needs to know what the employee thinks is the right amount of communication is that is needed.
-I will also consider the employee salary into this.
