IUGS no longer lists its accreditation status on its website with the National Board of Accreditation of Dominica or any other accrediting agency. Furthermore, the NAB has not updated the accreditation status of IUGS on their website since their expiration date, June 2018. Interesting.

The info provided above is well known as is the question of credibility of NAB accreditation. However, I was wondering if any members of the forum have any information as to whether IUGS is seeking a new accrediting agency to accredit its degree programs.
It appears that IUGS no longer has NAB accreditation, or at this time, any alternative accreditation. It will be interesting to see whether this school seeks another Caribbean Accreditation, one based in Europe, or none at all!
I agree with Jan here. Interesting. Here's my take: I believe that Dominica-era IUGS degrees are accredited; however, the school long had enough warning signs to be a poor choice for students. Unless they can regain NAB accreditation or suddenly gain RA status, it just became worse choice. Even if they manage to find another Carribean government to give them recognition. My feel is that the school was for some time a stagnating "cash cow" for owners. If I'm right, it will most likely close soon. A loss for this forum; it's always fun to debate marginal players. Not a big loss for potential students; there are better choices.
...incidentally, this provides a (weak) evidence in support of NAB's credibility. It makes it more likely that their process is not a rubberstamp.
It doesn't appear that IUGS lost NAB accreditation due to their not meeting NAB's standards but due to the lack of organization of NAB to ensure timely ongoing accreditation reviews. As far as IUGS closing, I believe that it is too early to make such a prediction because there is a prospective demographic population of professionals with Master's Degrees and ABD status who are seeking the doctorate IUGS offers for title and other purposes.
Do we really know that? They are still on the NAB list but the accreditation period has elapsed. With only two schools on their list, one a UWI remote site, I wouldn't say that the NAB is overburdened. Maybe the hurricane threw them off. http://nab.gov.dm/services/accreditation/accredited-institutions If IUGS is no longer accredited, I wonder why they are still listed. Is some kind of re-evaluation process underway? Has IUGS filed some kind of appeal that has left its status up in the air? Or has the NAB simply neglected to update the list?
It has to do with the difficulty of NAB to get their accreditation board members together, without which they cannot proceed to renew IUGS's accreditation. This situation is ongoing and preceded the hurricane. So it's not a matter of NAB neglecting to update their list or IUGS filing an appeal that's left their status in limbo. The source of my information emanates directly from IUGS.
And you believe them??? We're talking about a mickey-mouse school in a country with a mickey-mouse accreditor. (I wanted to say mickey-mouse country, but resisted the temptation. Almost.) I'm happy to help feed the third world, but for my higher education I'll stick with a higher world. Why are we talking about IUGS anyway?
