Question for the LEOs, Lawyers and other Ls -

In the news has been a court ruling on the use of a device called an Ionscan (detecting miniscule amounts of illegal drugs on doorknobs of homes). The issue, in general terms, is what technologies may be used by law enforcement as probable cause for obtaining a search warrant for a home.

The above may be seen as an extension of an older debate on the LE use of thermal sensors to determine what is being done in a private residence.

Now the binoculars. Though now mundane, binoculars are a technology that extend the range of human sight and which infringe upon the privacy of the unknowingly sighted.

Now the question. Have there been any court rulings on the use of binoculars, on private residence, to beget probable cause for obtaining search warrants?

Maybe this should have been "Off Topic" but it's certainly political.
