I use mozilla and can't get to the site either. I did a search on the color line us and came up empty.

I did a search on the color line and came up with a bunch, but the first few had something to do with norway. Nothing looked like the address.

I'm willing to look at the site, but . . .

I use Mozilla 1.7.7 on Windows XP and it came up fine. That was last night.

Well, I didn't type enough -- I have Mozilla Firefox.

I keep trying. Still can't get there though. I'll try again after dinner.

Yes, mine was non-profit. While I like to think that FCC is on topic for DegreeInfo, I'm okay with erring on the side of too much information, especially if it's in the Off-topic forum.

I went back and read through all of Rosalinds postings. It seems that she objected to having a thread locked. It was locked because a Moderator felt that it was in bad taste to be arguing politics during the suffering immediately following Katrina. He did not prevent discussion of alternate topics in the catagory "racism." It seems to me that Rosalind took it personally when the thread was locked. Beyond that it was clear that she got a lot of support for her views and opinions from many different members who made a point of welcoming her to the forum. She also neglected to note that another Moderator recently locked a thread that was propagating racist material. With all that in mind I'd have to say that I disagree with Rosalinds summary statement that there were a bunch of people that "came after" her. I didn't see any mudslinging. I saw some disagreements. If others can direct me to specific offensive statements made against Rosalind then I would like to take note of them. I would also say that I briefly visited Rosalinds discussion forum (I had no difficulty loading the site) and I wish her the best in her efforts to bring reasonable discussion to this difficult topic. As far as I'm concerned Rosalind is welcome back whenever and if ever she chooses.

I have no problem with Rosalind discussing her topic. As long as it is an honest portrayal of a subject that has been overplayed and totally fabricated by Jackson, Sharpton and Farrakhan. If it's going to be a lectern for B/S, she and her Color Line are subject to animadiversion, hard questions requiring answers she may prefer to answer with questions, which usually reflect an aversion to reality, and arguments requiring facts, not perceptions.

    animadiversion (sic)

    Hi Clay:
I fear that what the lady wants is not animadversion but an animus diversion. I fear she will take your comments (on which I do not comment adversely but with which I am not in agreement) as hostile, etc. This is not a statement about your intent but a hunch based on my own hunchology. Should she respond civilly I will be pleased.
I hope you will be, too.
    Regards,
    Janko

How sad! For someone who by her own admission wants to generate dialogue on the vexing issues of race - and hopefully, in the process, maybe generate and build some bridges of understanding and tolerance among the races and ethnicities - this is a terribly unnecessary and intemperate outburst. It is quite contrary to the spirit and intent of calm dialogue.

Oh, how I wish you had taken a bit more of a diplomatic - and conciliatory - approach! I'd listen to you if you did - and so, I am sure, would others here.
Not true at all. Making a sweeping generalization based on (to you) some "offending" posts and posters, is illogical and intemperate. Calm down some, Ms. Gash, - and we can dialogue and reason with you. Because we do need to, somewhere, sometime and someplace.
Now, now, now. And how exactly, do you know this? Based on what? When was the last time that you or anyone else, took a scientific survey of DI's membership or visitor/poster rolls? Makes you sound more like a provocateur than a peacenik. I hope that I am wrong about you on this observation.
This is great! Jack, you have helped to make my point. One (like Ms. Gash) must be careful not to tarnish a whole group with one wild brush made in a tempestous outburst. Anger defeats reason and does not promote racial dialogue in any fora or on any topic, much less in the highly charged, racial-ethnic arena of discourse.
Me, too. Question is, will she? I hope so.

Ms. Gash, do stay (I think the Moderators want you to). Voices such as yours, however discordant and different, are needed in these here times.

    Be still. Let's talk.

    Please?

    Thanks.

You are right Uncle, I step on it regularly. Fortunately I have you, and others, to correct my "Freudian" slips. Have to remember the sequence: 1. Think 2. Think about writing 3. Rethink what I thunk 4. Write 5. Delete

Should go straight to #5. Me thinks your hunchology has zeroed on target. If she responds, I'll flip her to Gregg. He's pretty liberal, but he is accurate and does his homework. Or maybe Ted. He can have her chase herself till she falls asleep.
    Obrigado Professor,
    Clay

  11. I'll tell you what. I want her to stay too.

But there's some SERIOUS a**kissing going on in here right now - as observed by one whose voice is sometimes also "discordant and different". I've never had the pleasure of fellow discussion board participants asking me to "please?" do much of anything except perhaps the "be still" part above.....

I'm booted for having an ass jump on me. Jake_A damn near dives in one, on purpose, and slides. Reckon rank has it's privileges. And I hope he is near someone familiar with the Heimlich (not hind-lick)?

"From heathen heart that puts her trust..."

Obscenity untempered by wit is just crude, Clay. Wittiness is wasted considering the matter of this thread. I value both you and Jake as discerning posters, and of course Carl the magnificent. Let's not let this thread turn into a "see I told you so" vindication for the angry Ms Gash.

In fact, I'm off this thread because I have nothing else to say.
    Care to join me?
