Some of my friends indicated that they are interested in knowing if the news, etc is social Justice programming?
We see too much of this now ( commercials, current tv series, and , of course, contemporary news programs ).
What a fantasy they create about family life and other areas.
Also what type of programming and content they can use, which ones are selling the most commercials etc.

Commercials are the media that can and does change the quickest to what ever the newest "issue" is.

There was a book out many years ago "The Media is the Message".

I'd love to know what friends like this would say if asked actually to define "social justice".

I think in high level my friends and I would define it as fair society. (society—a society of societies)
They and I would include traits like, religion, family, race, class, sexuality, and gender.
By definition its about human rights, access, participation, and equity.
But on the same traits we deffer in our libertarian, liberal and conservative views.

For example in general as a conservatives traditionally say, education is a matter of public concern agreeing here with liberals,
but justice requires us to respect the authority of parents and whatever assistance we provide must empower, not replace, them.
libertarians say children should receive education their parents, extended families, and charities provide and that there is low role for government to play.
Liberals say the education of children is a matter of public concern, government should run schools and most children must attend them with limited role of parents.

Medias role in all of it, can be useful to promote SJ and not so useful and discriminate.
