I'm looking for a program that:
    • Is a doctorate
    • Can be completed largely (or completely) at a distance
    • Is in a business-, management-, or leadership-related field
    • Is a professional doctorate (not a PhD)
    • Is a "little book" taught program (as opposed to a thesis-only "big book" program)
    • Is self-paced
    • Recognized US accreditation or foreign equivalent (no proprio, state/canton-level recognition, or funky degree schemes)

    Asking for a friend.

This may well be the most difficult criterion to meet. How self-paced do you need it? Nearly all programs are term-based in some respect. Arguably a program is self-paced if it's term-based but allows a student considerable flexibility to choose between 0 and many courses per term.

You know about subscription-based CBE programs at South College and Capella University (FlexPath). But even they may entail deadlines especially based around the starts and ends of terms. If you'd count their DA or EdD as professional, a self-designed program addressing business, management, or leadership topics via Great Books-type humanities as sufficient, and their DEAC accreditation as sufficient, you know about Harrison Middleton University.

I recommend waiting until the situation stabilizes at South College. Their CBE concept is amazing, but South appears to be in the early stages of imploding. In the past two months, they have lost 15 faculty members and are now facing an early accreditation review. Additionally, there have been multiple accusations from students regarding bait-and-switch marketing tactics.
