but you liberal waco’s aren’t good sports in defeat, or victory for that matter…

  2. Well, given the title of your post, imagine where we'd be at if it were Hilary, and not John Kerry, in the race this time....

    Yeah...yeah, he should oughta concede.

Senator Kerry demonstrated that the Republicans are right about an important political principal...just being against the incumbent isn't enough. You have to inspire genuine enthusiasm for your own vision, which Kerry-Edwards just didn't manage to do.

I don't know even now what their vision WAS and I sent them money!

IMO Kerry failed to show how he could do a better job with the war we are in and that he would make the U.S. MORE secure. If he had a convincing campaign in these two areas he could have won. I agree with Nosborne, just being against something isn't enough. As to his concession, I have no problem with him waiting to concede. It has been a long election.

  5. Bush has not yet won

270 votes. You could rephrase this to say, "In 2000, Bush should concede since Gore won the popular vote."

This election shows that the West coast and upper Midwest and Northeast are thinking of their children's future. This site is for those seeking to advance education, so it's a mystery why some back Bush, who has taken money from the states and forced tuition way up.

In 2000 there was legitimate controversy, this year there is manufactured controversy because we are being overly cautious from last time.

I felt that one of the best moments in 2000 was when Gore came forward, conceded the election, and made strong statements in support of the process and this president.

At some point, if Kerry is the man he says he is, it becomes about the country and not him.

Also, my favorite line this year was “criticism of a plan isn’t a plan”, from the last debate.

sympatheticear, keep holding on to your dreams baby; if you pretend really hard maybe you can convince yourself the election isn't over

Ahh yes, the lovely CON response. Well, I hope Kerry uses every legal avenue, the same legal avenues and dirty tricks, used by the CONS during the 00 election.

The election is decided by the people and the EC, not some overweight crooked quack named Karl Rove. I did some research on the man and frankly, if there was ever a truly slimey individual, it has to be Karl. For GW to be associated with the man shows that saying you have moral values doesn't mean you have moral values.

    We shall see..

(either way, GW will always be a chimp and Cheney will always be a draft dodging chickenhawk - nothing changed there!)

They may be chimps and chickenhawks, but you must continue to bow to them as your exalted supreme commanders for another four years

    Mwahahahaha…

In your worst dream Bub. I will show the same respect to GW and his cronies that GW has shown everyone else (none).

In the end, I think GW will prevail in this election. However, I bet the economy is still in recession (it still is - we have the illusion of jobs called WalMart and Home Depot) and still at war. Of course the GW family will never serve. The are too "privlidged" (and too cowardly)

How do you know about the "victory" part? It's been so long since they had one.

I’m just goofing with you Mr. E. (back to goof):

While everyone is entitled to their opinion (including Michel Moore worshiping hippie liberal whacko’s), elections are great because we find out who is right (me), and wrong (you).

Someone please give Kerry a purple heart so he'll concede.

Well, we find out what the people WANT, anyway...

Either you believe that the people can govern themselves or you don't. Both the popular vote and the electoral vote favor President Bush. Since I do believe that the people can govern themselves, I must accept this result gracefully.

    There's always next time!

One bright spot...turnout was very heavy. I hope that the electorate remains this engaged in the future!

You know, come to think about it, while the Purple Heart is definitely an award that merits respect, to get three in four months doesn’t REALLY say much about your leadership abilities, does it… you know, seems like he took better than he gave…

Hey, just like this election! He DOES deserve a purple heart!

I just received a news alert from CNN that reports that John Kerry has conceded.

There was a glimmer of hope for a change. After the glow wears off the conservatives, and the sting wears off of the liberals, it's back to.....the same old thing. The same war, the same news, the same economy. Whooppee!!!

At least in CA, we passed some progressive measures (stem cell research being one of them). It is time to become our own country!!

    Tom

I am confused. I know you hoped for a Liberal change, but that didn't happen. As to the same old thing, how would Kerry have changed that? The reality is we are in a war, we are fighting the economy, the same news would have happened. Kerry had/has no magical answers and no previous reputation as a brilliant thinker, solver of problems, builder of coalitions. Bush is our President and was elected by a good margin in both the popular and electoral college. How about thinking of how we can work together for the best interests of liberals, conservatives, and every one in between? I guess I think you would have wanted that if Kerry had won. How about it Tom?

    Dave Hayden,

You put your finger on what I think was Kerry's ultimate weakness. He gave no believable vision for a DIFFERENT future.

    Iraq is a tar baby.

The economy doesn't really depend on the President.

Nothing keeps states like California from being as progressive as they choose to be.
