After watching the debacle at Bay Pines VA center for over a year, I am actually shocked at this news: http://www.sptimes.com/2004/10/07/Worldandnation/Critics_question_fede.shtml "The consulting firm behind the failed computer system at Bay Pines VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg has won another multimillion-dollar federal contract for a similar project. BearingPoint signed a contract two weeks ago to combine accounting and management systems for the Department of Homeland Security, made up of 22 formerly separate agencies. The contract could be worth up to $229-million."
Nice quote you use. Let's face it, most politicians are media creations or at least products of marketing agencies. I remember when I lived in Mississippi, one of the candidates for Governor, Bill Waller, got into a little bit of trouble because he used the same marketing agency as Arkansas Senator Dale Bumpers. The brochures looked identical, the platforms were identical, the "slickness" was there and, the television commercials were identical. It worked for Bumpers, it worked for Waller.
Actually, I didn't blame anyone for this. It's the same crap that happens under every administration. It's not in our best interest though for the incompetent connected to get important contracts like this.
