    Re: FEMA Independent Study Courses

I am curious...are these courses evaluated by ACE? If so, I don't see the need to go to a community college to have them placed on a transcript for me.

Also, I noticed Upper Iowa University has added a new degree program.

It looks like there is a demand in this field after all.

The U.S. Naval Postgraduate School has established a Center for Homeland Defense and Security in partnership with the US Department of Homeland Security. The school offers an MA in Security Studies (Homeland Security and Defense). The NPS degree is the first masters degree in Homeland Security to be offered in the US.

Last friday we had our graduation ceremony. It was neat to see the Homeland Security graduates from all over the country--Fire Department New York City, FBI, Government Accountability Office, Tampa Fire Rescue, LA County Sheriff Dept, US Coast Guard, US Northern Command, just to name a few.

There's been a good deal of discussion/disagreement about getting credit for those courses if you can search the threads.

I think this field is going to expand, however it is still new to know what direction it is heading.
