So, lets say that I know of a practioner of the Medical Sciences in the state of florida that has one legal degree, a degree from St. Lukes in Liberia and one from a so called medical school in Monseratt. He doesn't need the fake degree;s to practice (as far as i know) but he list's them on his website. What state authorities do you contact?

Assuming that contacting any authorities at all is the right thing to do...

The Florida Board of Medicine (and/or here).

The Florida Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protection Division.

His county's health department will probably care, also; as will his employer (if he's not a sole practitioner). So will his malpractice insurance carrier, if you can find out who it is. If he is a sole practitioner, his landlord might care, too... as will his neighbors, if his office is in a medical building surrounded by other medical offices.

    And his local newspaper.

A word to the wise: This is powerful stuff you're contemplating doing, here. Make sure you're right! Dig deep. Make sure the bogus degree really is bogus; and that you're not mistaking it for some other degree. Make sure that his listing the degree is really something that he really shouldn't be doing; and that he hasn't somehow already gotten the state's okeedokie to list it for whatever reason. Due diligence! Above all, search your soul and make sure that you have an objective, good faith basis for outing the guy. I'm not saying there isn't. I'm just saying that you should look long and hard at the situation before reporting him. Be ethical yourself.

lets go furher, and say that the med school in Monseratt has a bogus accreditor and is till ECFMG listed.... Who the HELL do i report the ECFMG to?

If you mean these guys, I'd start by not assumeing ECFMG's collusion, and I'd report to ECFMG what I believed to be the error on their part. Beyond that, I'd say that the the ACGME and the AMA might care.

I know a bit about St. Lukes but nothing at all about Monseratt. When it comes to the practice of Medicine I have little tolerance for phonies. I do not generally advocate for the outing of degree frauds but in such cases, if I thought that my communication with the proper authorities was falling on deaf ears, I'd go straight to the best known investigative journalist in the area.

    Becareful how you approach this.

Becareful how you approach this situation.

The ECFMG and/or WHO listing means that the proper office of a Sovereign Government sent a letter confirming the recognition of the school. True there is a documented case of a school that obtained the listing and probably should not have.

While eventually, St. Luke was "outed" and all medical degree's recalled (why recall a fake medical degree??) the school in Montserrat (if it's the same one, has to be, I think) at one time was issuing legitimate degree's.

You would need to verify the date the M.D. Degree (from Montserrat) was awarded to see if it corresponds within the period that legitimate degree's were being (are being?) awarded. (the whole volcanic activity thing has me confused).

Is this person actually practicing medicine, or simply lists himself (herself) on the web as "Doctor" so and so?

It would really help by seeing the actual link to the website to help determine what the status of this indivial might be.

    Bullett,

I understand you concern but between 2003--2005 he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine, a Masters of Public Health and a Doctor of Public Health. And, while attending school in Montserrat, he was also attending St Lukes. Where he earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree in 2003.

Here is a small excert from his webpage, I can't find some of these schools, doesn't mean they don't exist, but I find them fishy

Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southern Graduate Institute of Natural Medicine in April, 2003, a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree in Manual and Integrative Medicine from the University of Health Science International Lady Malina Bala Sur Memorial Medical College in May, 2004, and a Doctor of Medicine degree in Traditional and Integrative Medicine from the University of Science, Arts and Technology in October, 2004.

I can find anything on the Souther Graduate Institute of Natural Medicine, and The University of Health Science International Lady Malina Bala Sur Memorial Medical Collage is part of The University of Science, Arts and Technology and it is also part of Breyer State.

So, based on this you can see my concern. I don't feel they are listed properly in the ECFMG just like St. Lukes wasn't and probably a few others. The ECFMG doesn't do it due dillegance to make sure schools are legitimate. I believe that some fake medical schools from the UK have been listed in the ECFMG, and I am fairly certain Dean has more info on that.

Ok, SO I found the University of Health Science Unternational Lady of Maline Bala Sur Memorial Medical College, it is part of a real college found here http://www.uhs-usat.info/generalinformation.html

But after reading some on the page I realize that they are also owned by the same people that run this website which is connected to Breyer state, http://www.mcl-edu.co.uk/9701.html

Where they claim to have started in 2003. though the first website claims 1921.....

And on top of that they claim to be listed here http://www.edubase.co.uk/EstablishmentFind.aspx
But i can't find them in the database. Ma ybe i pushed the wrong button or something....

But still there is that BSU connection http://www.breyerstate.com/pre-med.htm

Sorry that this is all dis-combobulated, to much going on this morning.....
