RBTullo Philosophy and Sowak777 both make interesting points, but they have missed the original purpose of the Big 3.

    Reply to TBTullo:

I didn't miss the original purpose of the Big Three. Sowak777 was making an issue about the cost of the evaluation of credits, and that it shouldn't cost so much money in order to get a degree. I made the point that there are several steps that go into the evaluation of previously earned credits, and that the intent of the Big Three is to offer an opportunity to earn credits from various sources i.e. CLEP, community college, regular college/university. etc. They offer a flexibility and a convenience for people who couldn't otherwise earn a degree because of the residency requirement from traditional colleges and universities. I would invite RBTullo to read my posts and determine where I missed the boat when it comes to the Big Three: Charter Oak State College, Excelsior College, or Thomas Edison State College. My issue all along with the original pster Sowak777 was that they were making an issue out of the costs for such services and that somehow these colleges were trying to profit off from people. They provide a valuable service for those that have accumulated an enormous amount of credits and want flexibility. I just needed to get that cleared up, and don't know where you felt that I didn't understand the purpose of the Big Three?
