Janko, you remind me of the kid who shoots the spit wad and then quickly puts it away, folds his hands on his desk, and with a completely innocent look says, “Who me?”

I already told you, I get it. You were being the most neutral of observers, merely wishing THK all the best in this fickle and viscous world. If it’s all so benign, then I’m not sure why you had to speculate as to my ability (or not) to “venomize.” It must surely be my problem.

If I noted a conspiratorial air between you and Jimmy, or if my disingenuous-sniffing dogs were all atwitter over your posts, then it’s certainly my mistake, or my dogs’. I must be emotionally unstable and paranoid. Jimmy?

Not that I want to rehash this tired, worn-out subject, but I make no apologies for my degrees from Bethany of Dothan or Golden State School of Theology.

Neither school has ever been labeled a "degree mill" by the foremost authority on the subject, Dr. John Bear, in his list of mills in any of his publications.

Second, three states, after reviewing the Bethany transcripts and catalog, felt the program met the criteria to apply for and receive a number of mental health licenses.

The National Board for Certified Counselors accepted Bethany and allowed me to sit for the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor's Exam, which I passed and friends of mine with RA master's failed. Passing this exam qualified me to apply for and receive licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

However, recognizing the need for an accredited graduate degree, regardless of the acceptance of Bethany for professional purposes, I recently earned the Master of Science degree in Community Health.

This degree will meet criteria for mental health licensure in some states, including my own, as it is in an "allied health" field.

Your cheap shot has been noted and you have gained the attention you so pathetically desired.

    In defence of Jimmy

No one on this board was more relentless than I in insisting that Dr Clifton quit promoting evanescent stuff. He was pretty nasty with me and I was pretty relentless. Know what? For whatever reasons HE QUIT what he was doing wrong.

Bethany of Dothan is a substandard UA school. It is *not* a fake, whatever the ethical failings of its administration in the past. Dr Clifton has quit listing degrees from evanescent schools and has acknowledged publicly that his use of them was wrong. He appears to have settled down ecclesiastically, too.

Based on his present, well-established track record, FWIW I am happy to be a colleague of Dr Clifton's on this board. His postings and comments appear fully ethical. He is constructively promoting distance learning. There is, however, no "collusion" between Dr Clifton and myself. None is necessary.

And Mrs Kerry appears unfortunate in her friends.

I don't think she said it quite like that, but it hardly matters anymore. She already apologized for the remark and Laura Bush has graciously accepted the apology. So fuggedabouit. No doubt they each have, it's just everyone else who can't leave it alone.

This campaign has to be hard on both of them, they are in the spotlight (and the fishbowl) and they aren't running for anything. ("First Lady"? Please! An antiquated term and an equally antiquated idea.) It's hard on their kids too. Families of elected officials are subject to public scrutiny on everything from what they say and wear to passing looks on their faces that are caught on camera. What they go through is something you can only really appreciate if you have ever had a close relative run for public office. If they win it continues, but it's never as bad as during the campaigns. Give them a break, they're exhausted and unused to the unwanted attention.

To Uncle Janko and Bill Grover:

Thank you both for your kind comments. I know one's past, when one did not always take the right courses of action, is always available for scrutiny, criticism, and ridicule.

I appreciate your decency in this matter and giving me an opportunity to show the past is the past and my choices in regards to education and affiliations are now above reproach.

    Blessings to you two!

It's nice that you've supposedly had a change of heart, but how many people sought unaccredited degrees based on your advice? Many, I'm sure. Probably a few in your own congregation.

But who cares? You obviously don't, since you make a point of saying that you offer no apologies. I wouldn't expect anything else.

Why are you going after Dr Clifton now? When he was behaving badly, you were nowhere to be seen. I have been aware of Dr Clifton's activities for more than twenty years; his present behavior is in no way blameworthy.

I characterized BoD above and can call Jimmy Dr Clifton without irony on the basis of his BoD degree; I think Golden State is so bad that it's a joke. But Dr Clifton is entitled to argue for it if he wants to.

Few posters are as insistent on academic and intellectual rigor as Bill Grover. My own track record, esp. in regard to Dr Clifton, I neither need nor care to defend, since it speaks for itself.

You show up hours late for the party and you're sore that we drank all the tuica before you got here. Sorry. Burp.
