It's interesting because Tennessee has free community college. The results of a 2021 study said that young men are not attending college because they just don't want to. As long as people are still able to obtain employment, that's their business. Community colleges, for-profit trade schools, and open-entry 4-year colleges have high dropout rates anyway.
I think that's the GOOD side of free education: those who want to attend can, those who don't want to don't have to. Of course, I also think that most people should get at least a 2-year degree for employment purposes in today's climate, but that's a separate matter entirely.
