    Greetings.

I was completely unaware of the existence of indeed.com and simplyhired.com. Are there any other non-big-name job sites that I should know about? There are also some sites that are like dating services, except they attempt to hook-up independent contractors or moonlighting professionals with companies or individuals wanting some project done. (By project, I mean technical writing, programming, etc., not home repairs or gardening.) I landed on one via a Google link gone astray; might anyone care to suggest some?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cordially,
    Richard Kanarek

I am in IT. I use dice.com to apply to jobs, but I think the chances are greater if a recruiter working for a company contacts you directly. Once they set up interviews, you know that you are competing with a select few (never more than 10 people), and chances are that you'll land in the job shortly. My last 3 jobs were found by just responding to the recruiter's email and following up with phone calls.

Richard, you may want to look at rentacoder.com , which lists freelancing projects on many areas.
