It looks like on campus Con-Ed Program Finder - Executive Education Program - Harvard Business School I think the headline makes it sound like she completed a full on degree. I don't think that's the case.

Still kinda cool though...I would consider completing one (one of the cheap ones).

HES requires quite a bit more work!

She can afford it, though, right? And you can tell she's no dummy, so I'm not all that surprised.

I know someone who just finished this program, he's a close friend of a family member and he had his "graduation" all over social media. I didn't have the heart to tell him that they'll take anyone willing to pay $33k. One nice thing about this program is you do get HBS alumni status, as you should for $33k.

Wow, and I hear complaints that HES cheapens the brand.

    Requirements
Although there are no formal educational requirements, admission is a selective process based on professional achievement and organizational responsibility. We look for professionals who have demonstrated business talent and leadership potential.

Very strange. What is this a certificate? It doesn't seem like a bachelors or masters degree based on it's criteria. Also I'm pretty sure Tyra Banks does not have a bachelors, so it can't be a grad degree.

Never mind, it is a certificate.

Tyra Banks has beauty and brains!

The America's Next Top Model creator and host graduated with a certificate from the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Friday, Us Weekly can confirm.

luv this board, you guys are great :)

So, it's a cert. Ok, less impressed.

Funny, I don't follow her, but I still instantly thought it was odd that I hadn't "heard" anything about her being in grad school, I mean seriously, that would have been all over the news (and for 2 years). I knew she hosted a show(s?) and so it would have been highly unlikely that she could have simply left to go to grad school.

...back to my own HES homework...

For celebrities at Harvard stories the best have to be from when Ashley Judd was at HKS (she did earn a degree, class of '10). Some of her classmates leaked emails she sent to the group and they are rather entertaining. I have a friend that was in the same program as her and the stuff she would say in class was priceless. My personal favorite is when she asked a professor if it was okay to miss class because (I'm paraphrasing) "sometimes you have events to attend, like I'm supposed to go see the Dali Lama at a dinner next week, and lets be honest, he's not going to be around much longer."

Yeah, I think "Harvard" just sounds like the number 1 school no matter how you slice it. Even when it's ranked 2, 3, or 4 in those rankings, I still think most people are more "wowwed" by Harvard than Stanford, Yale, or any other school that might be ranked higher than them in a particular year. I mean this whole Jeremy Lin phenomenon has to do with the fact he's Asian American and also in a large part to the fact he attended Harvard. Nerds are not supposed to be able to ball like that.

Getting back to the topic, I was surprised to see Tyra Banks associated with HBS on the title of this thread. Especially, when I just watched a 1 hour program on cable about HBS not too long ago. The program touted how smart and competitive HBS students were. One of the advisors who was interviewed said they rejected Warren Buffet's application and then I see Tyra Banks and Harvard in the same sentence...what you talkin bout Willis??? The next thing you know we will be hearing that the Fresh Prince of Bel Air attended MIT...wait a minute he did.

To be fair to Will Smith, he is a pretty smart guy and there is at least a chance that he would have done well there. However, he turned down the chance because he was not interested in going to college.

How did he get into MIT to begin with? From his own mouth (amazing...)

He was a good student, PLUS the hookup, PLUS was a beneficiary of affirmative action. That goes to show you just what it reallytakes to get into a school like that.

Now that you mentioned he had an admissions contact at MIT, I am not that impressed. Besides I think his buddy Carlton was really the smart one.

I think Mayim Bialik impresses me more, UCLA PHD. Now this is one of those childhood stars that really took a non traditional career path from her acting colleagues.

The only issues I have with those who succeed in acting and then move on to academia is that you never know if their celebrity had anything to do with them getting in to their program, and you hardly ever see them using their education in academia after they achieve it.

The first issue I can get past as their celebrity is a part of the success that can make them a better rounded candidate. There's a lot of adversity to overcome. The second really annoys the hell out of me because a candidate with less to fall back on might actually create something special some day.

Then there is Danica McKellar, who not only was a successful actress, but is probably the hottest math geek the world has ever seen :flirt:

Can't that be said for almost anyone with "something else" going on in life. I know someone that own a Thai resturant and their son graduated from UNF with a business degree yet the resturant will be him when the parents retire. Does that annoy you also?
