    Re: Greenwich University

Mmm, I suppose. Air New Zealand probably own Qantas by now, so I can't argue with that!

Hey, at least you are from the southern hemisphere - that counts for something. Whether it raises the profile of Degreeinfo, well, there's a hellava lota raisin' to do!!!

A new university is always welcome in Australia - as long as due process is followed. Unfortunately the creation of Greenwich did not follow due process. Whether this is the fault of Greenwich or the Commonwealth, none of us will ever know. In my opinion, Walsh should have stuck by his guns and gone through another review...and another....and another...and another....until the Feds could stand it no longer.

I don't beleive any Australian contributor has called Greenwich a 'degree mill'. Indeed, when I did my case study analysis of Greenwich for my Masters thesis, my findings were far from the definition. The whole issue of Greenwich was the legal instrument that created it, and the process that was followed to create that instrument.

    Cheers,

    George

Columbia Pacific started there, and had its offices there for its first 2 or 3 years.

    2. RJT asks: Dr. Bear: Once the school is operational, under CA Law, will they be able to confer degrees to recent students who did not re-enroll to other schools?

It's an interesting question, assuming Greenwich gets its own approval and doesn't partner with someone else. California has made deals in the past, as with California University for Advanced Studies, for which they revoked the permit but allowed some period of time -- a year, I think -- for current students to complete their degree.

(George Ryan, the co-owner* apparently wrote to all students offering the opportunity to finish their degree REALLY fast, many of them paid, and he took the money and ran. No diplomas given. Never heard from since.)

    Actually...

Qantas owns a good deal of Air New Zealand.

    Greenwich U. and Alcatraz Island

Hey! Nobody mentioned Alcatraz Island just off San Francisco. This would be a perfect location for the university......and they wouldn't have to vacate their offices after the authorities "busts" them.
I wonder if the State of California would approve?
