Maybe it would help if you told us exactly what kind of program you are seeking. So far, I gather you want an MS in Accounting that you can get in a year or less.

    Is that about right?

Basically...year and a half max. Working with a 2.7GPA from TESC - that's only from 25.5 credits, the rest pass/fail exams. Could boost it up if I needed to. 650 GMAT. Thanks...

There are some MBA programs with an emphasis in Accounting which might be done in that amount of time, but I'm not aware of any MS in Accountancy programs which can be done at an accelerated pace. There is a minimum time requirement for programs which lead to the CPA exam. I believe it is 150 hours between the bachelors and masters programs, which means you would need a graduate progam totaling at least 30 hours, if you have a 120 hour bachelors degree.

The question of getting a job at a big six consulting firm with an online degree has merit - but will pose a unique challenge since the competition is likely from top 20 schools (Stanford, Berkeley, etc.).

That said, you may want to consider a 2 stage process; get an internship first (just to make the contacts/pay your dues) then move to a full time position upon graduation.

Of course, there are many excellent alternatives to working for the big six. As I recall, about 50% move on to other jobs after 5 years (less travel, less hours, same/more pay).

    Just my opinion...

    Thanks.

It's the Big 4 now :). PriceWaterhouse merged with Coopers & Lybrand in 98, and we all know what happened to Arthur Andersen.

About the Ivy thing - the Big 4 seem to send recruiters amost everywhere. Widener and Temple locally (both third tier), and person I spoke with at Golden Gate claimed they went there as well. There is a picture of PWC recruiters at a career event on their web site, so it would appear to be true. Now whether they do the majority of their actual hiring at the top schools I don't know. But I am avoiding purely distance for profits, because of the online degree issue. If I have to move to San Francisco for a year or two to use my Golden Gate degree, it wouldn't be the worst thing that ever happened :p

As for the internships, I would definately take one. They seem to be the best way to full time employment. About the alternatives - most people seem to think of Big 4 employment as a temporary thing. But to consensus seems to be to step to those better paying, less stressful jobs, you need the Big 4 stamp on your resume.

Also, thank you TCord1964 for your continued assistance.
