It seems Georgia Tech has ended its partnership with edX for Masters in Analytics and Cybersecurity. edX is no longer listing the programs on its site. However, Georgia Tech's website offers the same information and tuition in its official site.
GA Tech developed and delivers that program "in house." What was the purpose of the partnership with edX, were they a lead generator for the school?
Yeah, I think it is the same thing with Georgia Tech's Online Master of Computer Science program. They no longer partnership with Udacity, but brought it in-house.
I wonder if their contract with edX expired and instead of renewing they opted to bring it in-house? To me, that is an interesting decision given the large enrollment they have in the OMSCS and OMSA. I’d assume they increased staffing (outside of faculty) to help handle student inquiries and the likes.
Their OMSCS was extremely successful at $6k price tag. It has its own Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Tech_Online_Master_of_Science_in_Computer_Science However, their $10k Edx degrees were not as successful. If they bring down the two online degree programs' cost to $6k and offer them through their own platform, they can be more successful I guess.
I don't think they are short on success. Lowering tuition fees doesn't automatically increase enrollment. Sometimes it decreases it as people assume there must be a catch or they perceive less value, or you enroll a bunch of people who take up a lot of administrative resources while not proceeding through the material.
