What are all the institutions which offer free text books for their programs.

    I am aware of

    1) American Public University which has a Text book Grant that supplies all undergraduate students with the required materials.

    2) Competency based programs such as Bellvue University "Flexxive", Western Governor's University and Northern Arizona University"Personalized Learning" all supply the required reading material.

I believe the reason APU's undergraduate programs have free books is because the majority of them are e-books.

IIRC, when I attended Colorado Technical University, they said books and materials were included in the tuition. They even sent me Microsoft Office. Although, CTU is on the quarter system which makes them relatively expensive.

I believe Herzing University can be added to the list.

Though i haven't been able to confirm it or their Tuition rate from their Handbook. On their Tuition page they make a point to post a Value Comparison Worksheet which showed that cost of books was $0.

Text books cost money but in the overall cost of an education they are minor. My tuition at USF in 1994 was $160 per 3 credit hour class and the books were about $50-70 per class for new ones. I bought used for around $40. These days tuition is $624, an almost 4x increase while book prices have not increased that much.
