    Senior Member Initiation Attire

A suggestion for initiation attire for newly minted Senior Members:
    http://www.education-1.net/chancellor.htm

If it is good enough for that recent scourge of this forum, Dr. Rev. Chief Swift Eagle and his tribe/congregation/students/fellow cosmonauts, then it should be good enough for our Senior Members.

    BTW alarmingidea congrats

Senior Member Initiation Attire Like Chief Swift Eagle

I am a brand new member of this forum, having joined earlier today. A good friend told me that I would save a great deal of time looking for an appropriate DL grad program by reading the various member postings for inside information. I found plenty of that in the Distance Learning Discussions board.

This Off-Topic Discussion board is something else altogether. In my earlier post (my first) on another thread devoted to the "Dr. Rev. Chief Swift Eagle" I asked if this was an inside joke of some type. Bill Huffman responded that it was to some degree. Thank you for the reply Bill. I was somewhat relieved and looked at the links from a different angle.

Upon second glance, his website appears to be a hoax, and a cheap hoax at that. There is lots of nonsense about his Indian Tribe that:
What? Isn't the underlying basis for Indian Tribes the shared ethnic background of its members? The other parts of his site that I managed to get through contained similar logic with respect to joining his church.
Isn't that what joining a church is supposed to do? Someone joins a specific church because they believe or agree with the tenets of that faith. He completely lost me with the references to Russia, cosmonauts and the Orthodox Church.

This leads to a question. Does this guy have any involvement with legitimate distance education programs? If so, I'd like to know so I can avoid it at all costs. If not, I will simply skip over any future thread or post that contains a reference to the good Chief.

    welcome--

    Hi Wild Bill,

Welcome to DegreeInfo. I think many of us feel that something that quacks like a duck, has webbed feet, etc. etc. is usually going to be a duck, even if it claims to be an orca. And if one wants to choose among various orcas (Janko, help me out with the plural, please) it makes sense to drop the duck-like object off the list of orcas immediately.

But sometimes the curiosity of a duck pretending to be an orca is interesting in its own right, whether or not the duck is holding a curtain rod. So we'll discuss the duck-like Object's efforts to support its claim to being an orca, and the efforts of the shills for the duck-like Object to convince intelligent peope that a duck is a killer whale.

So does the chief level with us? Is he really a cosmonaut? Smells like a duck, to me. Intersting, though, in a DSM-IV way.

    Re: Senior Member Initiation Attire

    Thanks!

But while the attire you suggest may be fabulicious in a sort of isn't-Liberace-dead? kind of way, I think I might continue my search.

    Good morning!

It's not really an initiation ceremony -- it's more like a toga party...
