    Re: I see...

    HF Guy:

Absolutely. Your military experience should give you the nod over a lot of people with undergrad degrees. If the non-local degree is of concern and you plan on staying in New York, then there are some good schools not too far off that offer masters degrees in business online: Rensselaer, Worcester, UMass-Amherst. If you come into money, there's also NYU's fine masters programs in business-related fields that are available online. There are options. I just don't think that the school at which one obtained their bachelors is that crucial except when applying for the elite sort of jobs.

As for the troll, I can't honestly say that everything he says is wrong. In fact, most everything I've read of his has a grain of truth, often a big one. Of course it's better to go local (if it makes financial sense), of course it's better to go AACSB (though it probably won't matter at 90% of the jobs, and in any event, FHSU is likely headed there soon), of course some resumes get dumped bacause an applicant didn't go to the "right" school or didn't pledge with the "right" frat, of course, of course, of course. But these are things that operate at the margins, these occurences are just not the norm for bachelors-level jobs. The problem with trollie is not that's he's ignorant or an idiot--he's neiother-- the problem is the extent to which he takes his opinions (to the point of the absurd--i.e.: the laughable Weinerschnitzel theory), and his unwavering opinion that, even without a great deal of expertise, he's always right.

I've gone and violated my promise to no longer engage him. My bad. I just couldn't stand to see you possibly getting derailed over half-baked advice. I'll shut up now.

Little Fauss or anybody who cares to listen:

This guy lost credibility when he made Weinserschnitznel comments, then went on to say that Security Guards will laugh at NA degrees! I guess we must assume accreditation issues are part of the security guard training! This troll is suffering from delusions of grandeur!

It was good for a laugh though!

    Take care,

    Abner :)

You know what I think is GREAT about his posts? This guy makes all kinds of TROLLISH statements, gives half assed opinions, BUT offers no direction or suggestions. (not that anyone would follow them, now)

Saying something "just to say it" is TOTALLY worthless.

HF Guy, I am glad you found a program that fits your educational requirements. Good for you!

Kalos has been banned from the forum as of last night, I'm pretty sure.

Check it out Recruiting, if you haven't already, but he likened us DLers dispensing our "kool aid" as akin to "skinheads" on another thread yesterday. That skinhead rant probably was what finally caused the administrators to send him packing (at least I think that's where he's gone).

You're right about the late, great Kalos' advice: he really had nothing. Or at best, you could tell he'd probably scanned some posts here or maybe on another forum and was just regurgitating someone else's advice. There were just too many of his "profound and thoughtful" suggestions that sounded so familiar.

My theory is that he didn't really know much or care much about DL until a month or so ago when he came across DI while surfing. He gave himself a brief primer on it, registered the handle "Kalos" in May, and, presenting himself as an all-knowing authority, chose one side of an issue and lambasted the other. He posted fast and furious: almost 6 a day.

But I just got the feeling, very early on, that he was just a lifter of others' ideas, and that he couldn't do a very convincing job of presenting them, because he hadn't sweated it out learning and understanding them over the years like many on this forum.

He was immature and perhaps a little emotionally disturbed, so he was very easily set off. And again, because he hadn't earned his opinions by real sweat, he was completely unprepared when someone brought up an opposing view. Got real nervous--terrified, really, that his online credibility would take a hit--so he shot back as hostile as possible. A vain attempt to scare us "know-nothings" into submission.

Hope he enjoyed his month of thinking he was the smartest guy in the room.

Yes, I noticed his kind way of helping "us" poor DLer's out..... Indeed.

There was a similar incident in a recently past thread (maybe you recall) about DL Legal Education in California. I believe you were involved in that discussion too.

That fella made fun of everyone in there. He jabbed at me because I had "JUST" an AA degree and had the gall to speak.
I HAVE TWO, THANK YOU!!! LOL.

There is no room for people like that on this board, we have too much GOOD info to pass around.. Heck, I like my info unleaded!

Yes, our old friend JDLLM2. Look, the guy's not happy, so he snarls at passersby. I wish him well, though. Just wish he'd govern it down a bit.

I don't care how few or many degrees anyone has.

I have a dream that one day people will not be judged by the collection of their sheepskins, but by the content of their character.

    Apologies to MLK.

Heck, I am just glad I finished that part of my education path. time to move on to the next stage.

I have a dream that one day people will not be judged by the collection of their sheepskins, but by the content of their character. (Honestly, I think that day is a ways off my friend, vanity is everywhere)

I had been judged, in the past, for just that, and "in the beginning" that is why I was going after a formal college education. Oh but I quickly got over that when it became REAL work, THEN I did it for me!

OMG, that sounded so "Oprah". Sorry..................

Geez, and I don't have a degree at all. I'm sure he considered my input absolutely worthless... I'M LISTENING TO YA! We AA guys have to stick together you know! LOL
