I would like to throw a compliment to Foothill. I have taken a few classes online from Foothill, and I rate the school as top-notch.
Very Cheap...Good Instruction...Easy Credit transfer...Great Instructors. I Highly Recommend This School!

Foothill is a community College in California. They offer many classes online, and you can complete several AA degrees totally online with them.

My experiences with this school have all been positive.

I'm going to be taking CIS 015C there, to transfer to San Francisco State University. My Prof says he will count the content but I will still have to take a 300+ level class to make up the 40 credit minimum. Thanks for the info!

    Hi, Picklehead.

I've never taken any courses from Foothill, but I live in its general vicinity. The place has a beautiful campus and a reputation around the south bay 'Silicon Valley' area as one of California's best community colleges. Foothill courses are taken seriously by employers and everyone seems very satisfied with it.

They used to host a major Silicon Valley museum of electronics history, but the 20,000 item collection outgrew Foothill's financial resources in this age of budget constraints, so after a decade in crates, the museum is in the process of reopening in San Jose. Anyone who likes old gadgets has gotta love this, check it out:

Here's when it was at Foothill:

Foothill still has a cool astronomy lecture series though, among its many features:

If people live in California, the CA community college in-state tuition is a whopping $12/unit! They are almost giving these classes away! And people wonder how California runs such a large budget deficit.

Out of state US tuition is $99/unit, still not all that bad. Foreign students pay $110(US)/unit.

I worked in the California Community College system for over seven years. It is, without a doubt, the best deal in US higher education. There are currently 107 community colleges in California and they are not all created equal. Within the system, Foothill (and its companion college DeAnza) are regarded as two of the better ones in the state. They were definately ahead of most of the rest of the CA community colleges in the area of distance learning.

I've taken 3 classes through Foothill over the years and each one was run in an exemplary manner. Great teachers, great programs, great response time on everything.

    Wholeheartedly second the Foothill kudos!

I can also vouch for the very pretty campus. Also, if you're a University of London External student, and you live in Northern California, Foothill College is where you will take your exams (assuming you want to minimize your travel time). The testing staff is friendly, and the head of the testing center is very familiar with administering UoL exams.
