It appears that there will be additional programs offered with English as the language of instruction at the University of Stellenbosch. This might result in additional DL opportunities in South Africa for English speaking students.

    Stellenbosch ?

    Jack,

Is there any reason why this thread has been placed in the Accredited vs State-Approved vs Unaccredited forum? I thought that Stellenbosch was a public institution, and hence the equivalent of RA, in South Africa. Does this have anything to do with the SA university reorganization that began in 2004 and is still ongoing?

I suppose that I was focusing primarily on the first word in the forum title, (Accredited) when I stuck it here. While it might also have been appropriate to put it in the DL forum I sometimes have a preference for this forum as threads sink at a slower rate in this forum. As for your question about the higher ed reorganization process in ZA, my thread is not related to that specifically although the pressure to remove Afrikaans as the primary language of instruction at some of these schools might be coming from similar motives as the integration of these institutions. There has been some ongoing controversy related to "language of instruction" issues in ZA and elsewhere in Africa and these seem to coincide at times with efforts of various peoples to preserve their own historical languages rather than adopt the language of another culture, such as English.
