Does anyone have any experience with the new Excelsior Research and Writing in the Major requirement for liberal arts degrees? They have a series of one-credit courses specific to the following areas - Humanities, Social Science, History, Natural Science and Criminal Justice (course number LA 490-494) to satisfy this requirement.

Does anyone know if these courses count as upper-level credit in the major? For example, would someone taking the Social Science course (LA 491) with a psychology major be able to treat this course as upper-level credit in psychology?
