Cum laude Dennis, Cum laude is awarded for a 3.5 GPA, magna cum laude for a 3.75 GPA, and summa cum laude for a 4.0 GPA. Good Luck! Tony BS (summa cum laude) Excelsior College, 1994
Re: Cum laude Isn't the GPA affected by how they award credit for CLEP, DANTES and graduate exams? Pass/Fail, for instance?
Re: Re: Cum laude It certainly is affected by how the tests are graded. Pass/Fail tests have no effect on gpa. The ones that receive actual letter grades do affect your gpa. So it's quite possible to get a 4.0 based on very few actual graded hours.
Re: Re: Re: Cum laude Thanks. If I managed to get a degree from all Pass/Fail tests, I'd be given a GPA of 0.0 and claim a GPA of 4.0.
At Excelsior, in the baccalaureate programs: Cum Laude = 3.5-3.74 Magna Cum Laude = 3.75-3.89 Summa Cum Laude = 3.90 or above on a minimum of 30 graded credits... source is page 57 of the Liberal Arts Catalog
All colleges and universites should add another line to the honor roll line up! "Thank You Dear Lordy" 2.0-2.25 GPA Gavin
