According to the Excelsior Exam guides I just downloaded, the exams are IRT (item response theory--I think). I don't know much--actually, I don't know anything--about testing theories BUT. . .doesn't this mean that you are penalized for guessing? Wouldn't you want to approach these differently than a CLEP exam where you're not penalized for guessing? If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate the help. The ECE's are just a little too expensive to screw up, if you know what I mean. . .
