Excelsior College, long the only college to confer bachelor's degrees without offering any undergraduate courses (a mantle now assumed by Western Governors University), has announced a "New online course in Information Literacy to be offered beginning January 1, 2004":

"Excelsior College's First Undergraduate Online Course [...] Students enrolling on or after January 1, 2004, will be asked to demonstrate their competency in accessing and navigating information, selecting credible and reliable sources, reading critically, and thinking independently through the information refinement process. One option for satisfying this requirement is to take our new online Information Literacy course. The self-assessments built into this one-credit pass/fail course will help students test their skills and gain insight into how they are progressing."
