Hi ya'll! Well, after what seems like an eternity, I've finally been "recommended for degree conferral for Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems"! I restarted my degree quest with my first CLEP back in October 2004. In total I completed 45 credits with CLEP and DANTES. I also received credits for MCSE and CCNA certifications. Finally, I (painfully) slowly completed the CIS requirements by taking 9 DL courses at: Athabasca University, Texas State University - San Marcos and Excelsior. Now I've got 122.68 credits and a 3.63 GPA. What made the degree pursuit substantially more difficult was that I spent 2/3rds of the time in Switzerland and 1/3 of the time in Nicaragua. When you don't live in the US it makes things much more complicated and expensive. The degree already helped me to get a new job which I started last month! Will I do a Masters? hmmm... I would love the challenge, I would love to learn (specially CIS, MIS or Information Assurance) and I could stand having an MS academic title .... but A) I want a break!! and B) I haven't found any programs which I like that are: 1) not super $$ 2) RA 3) are totally asynchronous (I live in Europe, I don't feel like waking up at 3 AM to listen to a professor) 4) don't require a GMAT or GRE (also not that easy to do in Europe) Any recommendations?? Well, good luck to all the rest of you and don't give up, even I finished! Brandon
First, congratulations on a fine achievement, Brandon. As for a suggestion for a masters degree Athabasca University offers a Master of Science in Information Systems. There are no live lectures. Brandis University offers Master of Science in Information Technology Management. Univerity of London External offers Master of Science in Information Security. Good luck in your future endeavours and in your new employment.
