Again, that is not what this conversation is about. Since you don't get that, so be it.....

    Lets get it right....

Tracey said that I based my success on my money, not I. The only reason I mentioned it was after he started badmouthing podunk u and because the OP based his question on the ECONOMIC value of the degree not its feel good value. Maybe everyone has a problem reading the original question?

It amazes me that the so called bleeding hearts on this board agree with tracey's attitude that podunk university's are beneath him and his. It's a p-poor attitude for a social worker. The VAST majority of the people he will deal with that go to college will go to a CC or "podunk" state u.

    Whatever....

    yes....

Yes, I do believe that college is not for everyone. Quite a few young men in our town have attended the Nashville Diesel Institute (may have the name wrong). Apparently, there are people standing in line to hire its graduates and the 2 whom I know personally were very happy with their experience there and the jobs it got them.

I watched a speech by the director of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce who made the point that it was a disservice to point a young person towards college if they weren't ready or did not want to go. There are many jobs that can be filled very happily by graduates of tech schools. His point is timely considering I just read an article on how many kids are running up student loans w/o getting a degree out of it. The numbers were shocking!

Remember, hopefully, you'll need a mechanic more than you will ever need a lawyer. Actually, a bad mechanic could lead you to needing a lawyer so we need good mechanics. ....

Oh, and don't feel sad for me. Doing alright, and at least I can debate the original question without getting elitist and condescending......

Darn, now I'm stuck between two really cool nicknames. You are too much.

Oh! Right now my heart is bleeding so much I am running out of blood. I feel so bad for all the poor people that will go to a comunity college I could cry. But I won't. I promise you guys I won't. Ah! What the hell maybe I cry a little.

Actually, on a more serious note I like Podunk U. The only thing I don't like about it are it's initials, P.U..
